Marcus Rashford’s Increased Transfer Value: Manchester United Set New Asking Price
After an impressive loan spell at Aston Villa that saw him back in the England national team fold, Manchester United are reportedly revising their valuation of Marcus Rashford. The young forward, who joined Aston Villa on loan in January, has seemingly rejuvenated his career away from Old Trafford.
Under new Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim, Rashford found himself on the fringes of the first team. Seeking regular playing time, he moved to Aston Villa and joined Unai Emery’s squad. Despite not scoring yet for Villa, Rashford has quickly become a key creative force, racking up four assists and showcasing a consistently sharp and impactful presence on the pitch. His performances have not gone unnoticed.
Rashford’s form at Villa Park has been so compelling that it earned him a recall to the England squad under manager Thomas Tuchel. This marks his first England call-up in nearly a year, signaling a significant turnaround in his fortunes. It now appears increasingly likely that Rashford’s future lies away from Manchester United, especially as Aston Villa reportedly have a £40 million option to make his move permanent.
Aston Villa Loan Sparks Renewed Interest in Marcus Rashford
Previously, when Rashford struggled for game time at Manchester United, his perceived market value had diminished. Earlier reports indicated a surprisingly low asking price from United, leading some to question if it was accurate. However, Rashford’s resurgence at Aston Villa and subsequent England recall have dramatically shifted the landscape. Manchester United are now believed to be preparing to increase their asking price for the player, recognizing his re-established value.
Adding to the intrigue, European giants like Barcelona and Bayern Munich are reportedly monitoring Rashford’s situation closely. Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown suggests that this renewed interest, coupled with Rashford’s England status, puts Manchester United in a strong position to demand a significantly higher transfer fee this summer.

Brown stated to Football Insider that “Man United are going to demand a high fee for him,” and confirmed that “Their asking price has increased after he was recalled into the England squad.” He previously predicted the loan move to be beneficial for all parties involved – Aston Villa, Rashford himself, and Manchester United – a prediction seemingly coming to fruition.
According to Brown, Villa are reaping the rewards of Rashford’s impressive performances, providing him the platform to showcase his abilities. Consequently, Manchester United are now in a position to potentially benefit significantly from his sale. He highlighted how United have managed to turn a potentially negative situation into a positive one, transforming the prospect of a cheap sale into an opportunity to command a substantial fee.
“It looked like they’d have to sell him on the cheap, but his value has only gone up. With the interest from Villa and from abroad, and a place in the England squad showing how highly-rated he is, it will allow them to drive up his asking price. I think it’s likely he will leave Man United in the summer, but they want to make the most money possible from that sale,” Brown concluded.
Marcus Rashford is a product of Manchester United’s youth academy, having played 426 times for the club and scored 138 goals. Following a phenomenal 2022/23 season where he scored 30 goals under Erik ten Hag, he signed a lucrative £325,000-a-week contract. It was even suggested then that Manchester United would consider offers in the region of £100 million for Rashford. While a fee of that magnitude seems improbable now, Transfermarkt, a respected football website, currently estimates his market value at €55 million, a figure that is only likely to climb given his recent form and renewed interest from top clubs.
