Manchester United fans are convinced that Marcus Rashford has taken a shot at former boss Ruben Amorim after Aston Villa’s FA Cup quarter-final win.
On Sunday afternoon, Rashford helped Villa book themselves a place at Wembley after beating Preston North End in the FA Cup quarter-finals.
Heading into half-time, the Championship side were able to hold Villa to a 0-0 draw, but two quick goals from Rashford, followed by a third from Jacob Ramsey saw Unai Emery’s side progress to the penultimate round.
Immediately after the game, star player Rashford spoke to the media and fans are convinced he took the chance to aim a subtle dig at former United boss Amorim.
After 20 years playing for United, Rashford left his boyhood club on loan in February after seemingly falling out with new manager Amorim for a several reasons.
Since then, the English winger has thrived at Villa, scoring two goals and assisting four in his first 10 appearances, and fans think that off the back of his best performance for his new club, he called out Amorim and United.
Speaking to BBC Sport after the win, the 27-year-old said: ‘It’s a great feeling, I feel like I’ve been getting fitter and playing better football since I’ve been here. It’s obviously nice for a forward to get a goal so hopefully it continues.
“Step by step. I think I can still get fitter. I missed a lot of football before joining up with them. At the minute my body feels good, I’m injury-free and I’m enjoying my football, so all good for now.”
Reacting to Rashford’s comments, fans are certain that the former United star wanted to send a message to his former manager ahead of the transfer window reopening in the summer.

While another added: “What a horrendous decision to get rid of Rashford all Amorim had to do was put an arm around him instead threw him under the bus, appalling management.”
And one claimed: “Amorim came into Manchester United with hate for rashford and that’s just the plain truth.”

Manchester United supporters believe Marcus Rashford subtly criticized his former manager, Ruben Amorim, following Aston Villa's triumphant FA Cup quarter-final match.
This Sunday saw Rashford play a pivotal role in securing Aston Villa's FA Cup semi-final berth at Wembley. Villa defeated Preston North End in a compelling quarter-final clash, largely thanks to Rashford's performance.
While Preston North End, a Championship team, held Aston Villa to a goalless first half, Rashford's explosive performance in the second half changed the game. He netted two quick goals, followed by a third from Jacob Ramsey, propelling Unai Emery's squad into the FA Cup's final four.
Did Rashford Aim a Jab at Amorim After FA Cup Quarter-Final Win?
Immediately after Aston Villa’s victory, Rashford spoke to the media, and fans quickly picked up on what they perceived as a veiled jab at his former Manchester United manager, Ruben Amorim.
After two decades with Manchester United, Rashford's loan move to Aston Villa in February came after reported disagreements with Amorim. Since joining Villa, the English winger has flourished, contributing significantly with two goals and four assists in just ten appearances. Fans are now interpreting his post-match comments after his standout performance as a clear message aimed at Amorim and potentially Manchester United.
Speaking to BBC Sport after the FA Cup win, the 27-year-old Rashford stated:
- "It's a great feeling, I feel like I've been getting fitter and playing better football since I've been here."
- "It's obviously nice for a forward to get a goal so hopefully it continues."
- "Step by step. I think I can still get fitter. I missed a lot of football before joining up with them. At the minute my body feels good, I'm injury-free and I'm enjoying my football, so all good for now."
These remarks have ignited a flurry of reactions from fans, many of whom are convinced that Rashford intended to communicate a message to his former manager, particularly with the summer transfer window on the horizon and questions surrounding his long-term future.
